Today, I take our passports to the post office to send off for our Visas to enter India. I didn't realize how much was involved with getting a Visa. OMG!!
- 2 page application form has to be filled out with lots of details (date of entry, date of exit, purpose of trip, mother/father's name - which has to match exactly to your birth certificate, place of employement, emergency contact....and on and on....)
- 2 passport photos (without glasses)
- Birth Certificate
- Proof of Residence (like Driver's License)
I had a previous passport, so all I had to do to renew it was fill out the form and attach the pictures from the post office. We were hustling last night to get the right paperwork for the Visas. Mom had gotten a 2nd set of passport photos, but she was wearing her glasses - so we had to get those taken again. And she had no idea were her birth certiicate was. Thank goodness for my Heritage Album which had a copy (thanks to my wonderful sister, Debbie). I didn't even know for sure where my OWN birth certificate was (I haven't used it in such a long time) - but I found it my Power Layout box that I was using to re-create my baby album (yeah!). Now, all is well. We should have our Visas back by the end of next week.
